The Liberation Mound
A mound raised between 1932 and 1937 in Piekary Śląskie is the highest point located within the borders of the city.
Parameters:
- height: 356 m above the sea level,
- height from the footing: 20 m,
- diameter at the footing: 68 m,
- cubage: 25,000 m3 .
The mound is located in the west part of the city. On the top there is a Polish flagpole. The adjacent parking lot can serve as a base camp.
The mound is surrounded from all sides by fields, meadows and woods. From spring to autumn they create beautiful, even rustic atmosphere.
The mound and the surrounding area was used in the documentary film “Szlakiem śląskich powstańców” [Following the Silesian Insurgents].
