The Castle

The Old Castle in Żywiec was built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries.  Since 2005 it has been a residence of the Municipal Museum in Żywiec. Present architectural style of the residence (from Gothic to Renaissance) is influenced by not only history but also following administrators. The castle resembles a palace residence.

It is characterized by:

baroque façade,

high roof and windows,

chapel,

portal,

- façade in the historicism style designed by Karol Pietschka.

 

Around the building there is an original renaissance and arcaded courtyard surrounded by outbuildings with an Italian garden.

In front of the building there is a long driveway, where it is possible to locate a film crew.
