Silesian Insurgent’s onument

Silesian Insurgents’ Monument situated in Katowice, was erected in 1967 in commemoration of the three Silesian Uprisings against German authorities. It is one of the major symbols of Katowice.

The monument, designed by Gustaw Zemła and Wojciech Zabłocki  in the shape of three eagle’s wings, was built on a foundation stone, in the place of the Red Army soldiers’ grave.

 

Close to the monument there are Jerzy Ziętek Rondo, Tadeusz Kościuszko Park, Rondo Sztuki Gallery and Spodek [Voivodeship Sport and Show Arena], at which it is possible to organize a base camp.
