Nether Regions
Będzin’s nether regions have been opened in 2013, following the long period of restoration and adaptation works. They are located inside the Castle Mountain. There are number of entrances that lead to the system of tunnels, nevertheless only two of them, located close apart, are opened to the visitors. Some of the tunnels as well as the entrances have been purposely buried, or collapsed over time. The entire show path is around 400 m long.
The nether regions are diversified as far as the style is concerned – some of the tunnels resemble II World War’s shelters (which was probably their actual purpose), the rest have the appearance of the mining adits with the passageways excavated in the rock and the wooden pip props. It allows the location to be used in two different ways.
The temperature and humidity on the location are stable and typical for the underground places. Due to the fact that there are some renovation works currently taking place, part of the location is closed to the public.
