Market square in Gliwice

Market square is located in the centre of Gliwice.  Formed in the medieval times area is in a shape of a square (75m x 75m).

 

There are:

- town hall built at the turn of the 18th an 19th centuries,

Neptune fountain,

- the Artist’s House built after 1945,

- tenements built between 19th and 20th centuries,

- coffee houses and restaurants,

- recently discovered by archeologists wells.

 

It is cultural and social centre of the city.  The Fryderyk Chopin Park and  the Municipal Palm House are located in close proximity.  Currently in the centre of the city the Diametral Highway  is being built.
