Exotarium

An exotarium in Sosnowiec was built between 1954 and 1956 and consists of a two-winged building with adjacent greenhouses. The botanical part includes plants from various climatic and geographical regions of the world. We can find here desert and semidesert plants, American and Asian tropics, formations of a warm Mediterranean climate, ocean islands and many others.

Permanent exhibition of the animals in the exotarium includes mainly fish and reptiles. The most expensive group is the collection of exotic aquarium fish consisting of about 40 species. The reptiles are represented by about 15 species such as: Nile crocodile, rainbow boa, black-tailed and reticulated pythons and 6 species of turtles. One of the wings is devoted to parrots and other small birds.
