Ballestrem housing estate in Zabrze

A housing estate located in Zabrze Rokitnica, has been founded on the initiative of the noblesman Ballestrem for coal mine workers.

The buildings were constructed between 1905 and 1935. The housing estate consists of 63 buildings but only 4 properties of steel construction remained from the 1930s. Those are two-floor houses with a basement and an attic.

The housing estate resembles the English style, however the entirety has been constructed with reference to the idea of a garden city. 

In 1991 it was listed to the Register of Objects of Cultural Heritage.
